How is LGSL different from other server trackers?

LGSL combines real-time server monitoring with historical data analysis, geographic location tracking, player session history, and map downloads in a single platform. Our scanner runs continuously, querying servers directly via their native protocols to provide the most accurate data possible. We also identify hosting providers and server locations automatically.

How often are servers scanned?

Online servers are scanned approximately every 15 minutes. Servers that are offline or fail to respond are checked less frequently using a gradual backoff schedule - this prevents our scanner from overwhelming servers that may be temporarily down while still detecting when they come back online.

Why does my server show as offline when it's actually running?

There are several common reasons: (1) Your server's query port may be blocked by a firewall - game servers use a separate port for status queries that needs to be open. (2) Your hosting provider may be blocking UDP queries. (3) The server may be using a non-standard query port. (4) There could be a temporary network issue between our scanner and your server. If the problem persists, contact us with your server's IP and port.

How accurate are the player counts?

Player counts come directly from the game server itself via its query protocol, so they are as accurate as the server reports. Most game servers report real-time player counts. Some servers may have query caching enabled, which can introduce a brief delay. Bot players are included in the count if the server reports them.

What data do you collect from game servers?

We collect publicly available information that every game server exposes through its standard query protocol: server name, current map, player count and max slots, player names and scores, game version, server rules/settings, and connection information. We do not access any private server data, logs, or player IP addresses.

How does GeoIP location work?

We determine each server's geographic location by looking up its IP address in a GeoIP database. This gives us the country, region, and approximate coordinates. We also perform reverse DNS lookups to identify the hosting provider. For servers using DNS hostnames, we resolve them to IP addresses and re-check every 24 hours to handle dynamic DNS.

How do I add my server to LGSL?

Create a free account and go to your Dashboard. Click "Add Server", enter your game, server IP address, and port number, then submit. Your server will be queued for review. Once approved by our team, it will appear in the listings and be scanned regularly.

How long does server approval take?

Accepted Answer

Server approvals are typically processed within 24 hours. We verify that the server is running and responding to queries before approving it. If your server hasn't been approved after 48 hours, please contact us.

Can I remove my server from LGSL?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you added the server through your account, you can remove it from your Dashboard. If someone else added your server and you want it removed, contact us at servers@livegameserverlist.com with proof of ownership (server IP and port) and we'll remove it promptly.

What happens to servers that go offline permanently?

Accepted Answer

Servers that consistently fail to respond (10+ consecutive failures) are automatically archived and removed from the active listings. This keeps our directory clean and ensures users only see servers that are actually reachable. Archived servers can be restored if they come back online.

What information do I need to create an account?

You only need an email address and a password. No personal information like your real name or phone number is required.

How can I delete my account?

You can delete your account from the Settings page in your Dashboard. This will remove your account and associated data. If you need help, email us at privacy@livegameserverlist.com.

Does LGSL track my IP address or gaming activity?

LGSL does not track individual users' gaming activity or connect your LGSL account to any game servers you play on. We only collect standard web analytics data (page views, browser info) to improve the site. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

What query protocols does LGSL support?

LGSL supports a wide range of query protocols including Valve's A2S (Source engine, GoldSrc), GameSpy (1-4), Quake, Unreal, TeamSpeak, Mumble, Minecraft, FiveM, and many game-specific protocols. Our scanner uses the GameDig library which supports 150+ protocol implementations.
