How to Enable Free or Paid Private Servers in Roblox

Roblox experiences can offer free or paid private servers. Before enabling them, the experience must be public to all users and paid access must be disabled.

Requirements

Make the experience public. Private servers can only be enabled for an experience that is public to all users.
Disable paid access. An experience cannot offer paid access in Robux or local currency while private servers are enabled.

Enable private servers

Open the experience in Roblox Studio.
Select File > Experience Settings.
Open the Monetization section.
Enable Private Servers.
Select an option:
- Free: Private servers are free for players.
- Paid: Set the Robux amount players pay for access.

Change a paid private-server price

Private-server prices can be updated only once every 60 days.

According to a Roblox staff announcement published April 22, 2026, price updates no longer cancel existing subscriptions as of April 30, 2026. Roblox gives subscribers 30 days' notice before a price increase takes effect. A price decrease applies on each subscriber's next renewal cycle.

The Roblox Creator documentation carries older wording stating that changing a price cancels active subscriptions. The dated staff announcement describes the newer rules effective April 30, 2026.

Why might a player be unable to join?

Players under 13 may be unable to join private servers depending on their privacy and parental-control settings.
